Operations

The Post landfill is the central receiving point for solid waste generated by the City of Post. The operation of the sanitary landfill is permitted by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. The landfill must operate in compliance with Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Rules and Regulations, and the approved site operating plan.

Waste Types

The landfill accepts both Type I and Type IV wastes.

  • Type I Waste - Municipal solid waste includes: trash, garbage, plastic, cardboard
  • Type IV Waste - Demolition waste includes: sheet rock, wood, shingles, glass

Items too large for the dumpster must be hauled to the landfill

It is the discretion of the City of Post to accept or reject any of the materials brought to the gate of the City landfill.

We Accept

  • Furniture
    • Mattresses, couches, chairs, dressers, tables and beds
  • Bagged Household Trash
    • Includes plastic and clothing
  • Construction Debris
    • Including: Wood, shingles, concrete, bricks, sheet rock, doors and windows
  • Metals
  • Tree Limbs
    • Up to 10 inches in diameter, 4 feet in length, and 60 pounds in weight
  • Concrete
    • Some restrictions apply
  • Appliances
    • Must be free of freon
  • Tires

We Do Not Accept

  • Used Motor Oil or Filters
  • Potentially Hazardous Liquid Waste
    • Paint
    • Chemicals
  • Automobile Batteries
  • Friable Asbestos
  • Radioactive Waste
  • Hazardous Waste

Authorized Persons

Persons authorized to dispose of waste at the facility include:

  • Citizens and businesses in the city, with a recent water bill receipt
  • Citizens and businesses in the rural areas of Garza county, with proof of residency.
